The Museum of Naval Glory of Russia is an innovative museum platform, within the walls of which you can learn in detail about the fleet of our country. Together with the restored Sea Cathedral, these are two of the most interesting objects of tourist Kronstadt. We will visit them and get to the island by comfortable car from St. Petersburg.
During the trail tour (we will pass through the Primorsky and Resort districts of the city), we will discuss not only the main attractions, but also the history of places along the Northern coast of the Neva Bay.
In Kronstadt, we are waiting for the Naval Cathedral and the IMDS: the first was returned to life after many years of non-existence, the second was created on the basis of two restored arsenals of the First World War.
In the museum you can visit the exposition located on 2 floors of the building. The first floor will acquaint you with the development and formation of the Navy in our country from ancient times to the middle of the twentieth century, and the second floor is designed for self-examination and will give you the opportunity to learn about the life of the sea power in our days. Also in the museum is the atomar K-3 “Lenin Komsomol”: if you want to visit her tickets will need to book in advance! But the guide will tell you about it.
Then we move to the Cathedral, striking with its splendor: snow-white walls and gold domes, floor in the technique of set mosaics, stained glass windows, marble memorial plaques and an abundance of icons. It will be hard to believe that recently this temple was ruined: without crosses and bells, with the altar dismantled, it was a cinema, a warehouse, and a Sailor’s Club.
