Vanguard in the Russian Museum

The largest exhibition was opened in the Russian Museum. It exhibits more than 400 works of the most famous avant-garde masters. You will see the renovated halls of the Russian Museum and get acquainted with the main trends and directions of art of the early 20th century.

Directly from the entrance you will get acquainted with the main “actors”: you will see portraits of the main characters of the era – those who broke the old and built the new. We were presented with landmark works and the fact that the Russian Museum concealed in storage!

Through the halls of the futuristic book you will pass to Impressionism – it all began for Russian masters. The softest windows will open for you Burliuk, Goncharova and Larionov.

Halls of Primitivism and Cezannism: filled with folk art, children’s creativity, the art of ancient civilizations, artists were looking for a new, sharp expression of life, everywhere drew their inspiration. Recall the exhibition “Jack of Diamonds” and “Donkey’s Tail”, the opening of the work of Niko Pirosmani.

The following trends are cubism and futurism, and exclusively Russian cubofuturism. Rhythm, collage, assemblage, the simplest geometric forms and, of course, incessant movement and search.

From ism to ism: abstraction, objectlessness, expressionism will fall on you. In the red corner will hang the "Red Square", Tatlin will ascend to the tower of the Third International, will ride the "Red Cavalry" and cut the canvas in two "Green stripe".

Two final chords: the whole hall, allotted to Pavel Filonov, and the hall, telling about the production of the opera "Victory on the Sun", where in the center of the hall a piano, and the walls are decorated with sketches of scenery and costumes.

You will see more than three hundred paintings, works of printed graphics and porcelain.

Tickets are purchased on the website of the Russian Museum. If there are no tickets on the site, the tour cannot be held.
