Sightseeing tour of St. Petersburg
Description:
St. Petersburg is not the city that you go to. You need to go around it, feel the rhythm of the streets, see how eras change after turn, and how behind each facade is a trace of human drama, ambition or dreams.
We start from your hotel and the city begins to unfold in front of you like an old engraving. We're in no hurry. Petersburg doesn't like rushing.
It’s not just a trip to see the sights. This is the entrance to the city, as they used to do: Tolstoy’s heroes, European ambassadors, aristocrats in love and young nobles with a suitcase of hopes. The entrance is not outside, but inside the city soul.
We'll stop and get out. Because it is impossible not to stop here - at the Neva, at the cathedral, at the square, where the echo of balls and shots sounded.
On the route:
The Spit of Vasilievsky Island - as an unfolded compass of the city
Peter and Paul Fortress - the beginning of history, the fortress is not only stone, but also symbolic
St. Isaac’s Cathedral – the granite anthem of the empire
Winter Palace – the front facade of power and its vulnerabilities
▪ Nevsky Prospekt - the residential artery of the city: with splendor, bustle and ever-current time
▪ The Savior on Blood and the Kazan Cathedral - two churches, two views on faith and fate
▪ Hidden streets, bridges, courtyards, which are not written in guidebooks, but which the old Petersburgers know
I'm going to tell you, not a lecture, but an urban story:
How St. Petersburg was built on water and stubbornness
About love in the age of kings and duels at dawn
About literary shadows in the alleys
about music, revolutions, frosty carriages and coffee houses, where they still go “out of habit”
? Optionally - stop for coffee, in one of the old places, where you can hear the whispering of the city through the centuries.
? The duration is about 3 hours. The format is flexible: you can extend, you can focus on palaces, on literature, on “non-parade Petersburg”.
This tour does not give a “volume of knowledge”. It gives you a sense of the city. Like an old book that you entered from the first page and may not want to come out again.
