The city of Lomonosov or Oranienbaum, like Peterhof, is located on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland, but somewhat further from St. Petersburg. One of the main features of Oranienbaum is that during the Great Patriotic War, it was not captured by the Nazis and was not looted and destroyed. Monuments, palaces and parks, of course, suffered, but not to the same extent as in other suburbs of St. Petersburg. This is the only authentic palace and park ensemble of the XVIII century, the monuments of which have not been restored since their creation.
