It was the favorite summer residence of Emperor Paul I.
But the real mistress of Pavlovsk was his wife Empress Maria Feodorovna.
A magnificent landscape park remote from St. Petersburg admires its nature in the best traditions of Pietro Gonzago. Here together nature, small architectural pavilions, white marble sculpture, winding river with theatrical banks, small bridges with ancient heroes and beautiful viewing areas that open at every step forward to the eyes of the traveler.
The core of Pavlovsk is his Palace. The palace was built on a hill, on the steep bank of the Slavyanka River.
The collection of Pavlovsk Palace will not leave anyone indifferent. Many items of the collection in the Palace were brought by the Northern couple (MF and Pavel Petrovich) during a trip to Europe.
The first hall that welcomes guests is the Egyptian lobby. As a decorative element in the pavilion used sculptures - plaster statues painted under bronze in the form of Egyptians. Their author was I. Prokofiev.
