Pavlovsk. Summer residence of Emperor Paul I
Description:
I often tour the suburbs of St. Petersburg, but every time we go to Pavlovsk, I catch myself smiling. It's a special place. And when I meet guests at the hotel in the morning, I know that today we breathe silence, beauty and imperial harmony.
The road to Pavlovsk is short, but how the mood changes! The city bustle remains behind, and through the windows of the car, age-old trees, spacious alleys, ancient fences begin to flash.
We come, and in front of us is the Pavlovsk Palace. Not pretentious like Catherine, not pompous like Peterhof - he is different. Strict, bright, intelligent. Like Paul I, who owned it.
Here everything breathes his era: ancient sculptures, elegant halls, the emperor’s office – surprisingly personal, almost modest.
But it's the park. It's huge, and it's not just a park, it's a nature theater. We walk among the lindens and oaks, I show secluded pavilions, bridges, colonnades. Sometimes we stop at the obelisks or the pavilion "Three Graces" - just to stand in silence. This place speaks for itself.
Guests are often asked to take a break for coffee in the former court coffee shop, where everything reminds of the old days. Or just sit on a bench and look at the Slavyanka River. I'm not in a hurry. Pavlovsk doesn't like that.
On the way back to St. Petersburg we hardly speak. This is that rare excursion, after which silence is not awkward, but a sign that the day was a success. Pavlovsk is always somewhere inside.
