Saint Petersburg

EXPLORING THE THREE SQUARES: A WALKING EXCURSION THROUGH THE HISTORICAL CENTER

Description:

During the walking tour you will see the Church of the Savior on Blood and hear the story of its creation and difficult fate. In your imagination will come to life the key figures of the political history of Russia in the second half of the XIX century. You will learn the mystery of the temple, partially standing on the water, and see one of the most unusual images of Christ.

Through the entrance yard we will get to the heart of the city - to Palace Square, see the famous "Alexandri Pillar", and you will learn why A.S. Pushkin, who lived nearby, was afraid to walk in the immediate vicinity of the column.

On the Admiralty embankment you will get acquainted with the most famous lions of St. Petersburg, and learn what the Admiralty looked like during the time of Peter I. See the Monument to the Carpenter Tsar and learn that it is not the only one in the world.

Of course, we will walk around the Copper Horseman - the most famous monument to the founder of the city on the Neva. You will recognize all three names of the square on which the Copper Rider stands. St. Isaac’s Cathedral is the main architectural structure of St. Isaac’s Square and the fourth largest domed cathedral in the world. You will learn the history of its creation, how many St. Isaac’s Cathedrals were in St. Petersburg since its foundation, how it happened that the construction of the current cathedral was entrusted to an unknown young foreigner.

We will stand on the widest bridge of the city (almost 100 meters!), talk about the history of the Mariinsky Palace, learn the secret of the monument to another horseman.
