Sheremetev Palace
Description:
I invite you to visit one of the oldest estates of St. Petersburg - the Fountain House, the ancestral nest of the counts Sheremetev. We will visit the main halls of the Sheremetev Palace, as well as walk through the estate.
Fountain house - this is how Sheremetev called his estate on the embankment of the Fontanka River.
More than 300 years ago, this piece of land was donated by Peter the First to his associate Field Marshal Boris Petrovich Sheremetev. Five generations of this glorious ancient family lived in the Sheremetevsky Palace. A unique case in St. Petersburg history - more than two hundred years of private ownership belonged to one family. The halls of the palace and the old shady garden, preserved behind the house, remember many stories from the life of the inhabitants of the estate.
You will get acquainted with the history of the Sheremetev family, learn about the musical and theatrical traditions associated with the Fountain House.
