Vasilievsky Island is one of the largest islands of St. Petersburg. Under Peter I, it became the administrative center of St. Petersburg, and later the center of museum, educational and scientific.

Going for a walk on Vasilievsky Island, you will not only admire the incredible beauty of the Exchange Square ensemble, but also see houses, the construction of which began in the early 18th century. For example, the building of the Kunstkamera once housed Russia’s first Observatory and Academy of Sciences. It was here that Lomonosov himself worked many years ago. And since the 30s of the XIX century in the building of the Twelve Collegiums housed St. Petersburg University. During the tour you will meet with the most mysterious and most ancient guardians of the city - the sphinxes that decorate the embankment opposite the Academy of Arts.

A walking tour of Vasilievsky Island begins from the metro station Vasileostrovsky.

Then we go along Andreevsky Boulevard past the house of the merchant Troekurov - this is one of the first stone houses in the city.

You will see St. Andrew’s Cathedral of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called, Vasya and Vasily on Vasilyevsky Island, an ancient market and the first knight of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called.

Then the tour will take place near the oldest Pharmacy, once owned by the famous scientist chemist A.V. Pell, and then his sons – Alfred and Richard. From here, medicines were delivered directly to the imperial court.

Today, the pharmacy works like a museum, we will visit it, see the historical collection dedicated to the beginning and further development of the pharmacy business in the 17-20 centuries.

And in the courtyard of Pharmacies there is a famous mysterious tower of griffins. During the tour, the guide will tell the history of the buildings of the Twelve Collegiums, the Exchange, the Kunstkamera, the Menshikov Palace, the Academy of Arts, the Rumyantsev Garden. We will visit the courtyard of the Academy of Arts. In addition, you will be able to walk along the narrowest street of St. Petersburg - Repina Street, the excursion on the arrow #Vasilyevsky Island ends.

It is from here that the most magical and majestic panorama of the city opens. Here the width of the Neva reaches 250 meters and in this place it is divided into two arms - Small and Big Neva, which on both sides wash the island.
