Saint Petersburg

Vasilevsky. An island of three centuries.

Description:

Friends! Vasilievsky. This is not only the largest island, which its western part overlooks the Gulf of Finland, and from the south and from the north is washed by the arms of the Neva, it is three centuries of history; turbulent, calm and always controversial. Living on Vasilievsky at least all your life, every day you can discover something new, so this island is mysterious and multifaceted. It is like a home-woven towel embroidered with different threads and drawings that left three centuries of history on it, and each of them left its own unique style with its own handwriting and features. This is Peter’s stencil of streets – lines crossed by “perspectives” (prospects). It is impossible to get lost in this part, everything is clear in Petrine. This sealing building of the XIX century and the workers' "slums" of the early XX.

We will see the oldest part of the island with its Petrine architecture, walk along the narrowest street of the city, look into the courtyards-wells and forgotten parks, see churches and monuments, collapsing mansions and crooked hopeless working streets, as well as the fate of these workers themselves.

The tour is carried out by car, but we will also take a walk in order to absorb the sense of history and its smooth flow.
