Saint Petersburg

Modern Reserve. Petrograd side

Description:

At the turn of the XIX-XX centuries, the Art Nouveau style conquered the entire Western world. Although the Petrograd side was historically the first district of St. Petersburg, its ceremonial appearance, which we can see today, was fully formed only at the beginning of the twentieth century, together with a new architectural style, so it is here, on the streets of Petrogradka, that we find the masterpieces of Modernity: mansions, apartment houses, the Cathedral Mosque. You will be able to see the real nature reserve of the Northern Modern: buildings built by such great architects as F. Lidval, A. von Gauguin, W. Schaub, K. Eulers and other talented representatives of the Modern style. However, the true charm of Petrograd Island lies in its versatility: different centuries and, accordingly, styles are mixed, elegantly complementing each other, while preserving their individuality; architectural works of art seem to arrange their own beauty contest, in which there are no winners and losers, but only universal grace and grandeur that distinguish this area from the whole of St. Petersburg, and St. Petersburg from the whole world.
