Let me introduce myself - my name is Svetlana Rzheusskaya.

My last name is a quirk of fate. In fact, I have nothing to do with the kindred Polish nobles, rather the opposite – my ancestors come from the Novgorod and Tver lands that stretch exactly between the two Russian capitals. My ancestors chose the northern one. It's almost like 100 years ago. So, I consider myself to be a St. Petersburg intelligentsia in the third generation. That's what my grandparents gave me the right to do, not to mention my parents.

By the way, my mother, my father, and I – we were all born and lived not just in St. Petersburg, but on the Petrograd side – the most wonderful area – near the Neva and the Peter and Paul Fortress. And from a young age I walked on the land on which Peter the Great walked, founding my Paradise. I did not miss the history of these places. It's my whole life. I made it my profession, my hobby, my business and my happiness.

I am a tour guide – in the most wonderful city in the world – St. Petersburg! Although I did not come to this immediately, the road was long. I'm from a generation whose hearts demanded change. So we got them – I graduated from school the year the restructuring began, with all the ensuing consequences. But a woman will always find a way out - and I found, or rather left ... on maternity leave. I have a beautiful daughter, but her birth year of 1991 is even more fateful for the country and for the city. In September I became a mother and Leningrad became St. Petersburg. The city for a long time got used to its new name, and the citizens for a long time adapted to poverty and devastation under a brilliant sign. But thank God it's over. We're stronger and cleaner. People and the city.

Not immediately, but my generation found itself, and so did I. Not everyone supported me when I changed my life. Many people were skeptical from the outside. But one person definitely believed, and I succeeded. Now we are both mastering our joint business in the tourism business of St. Petersburg, and we look to the future with hope and confidence. We have big plans.

And of course, everything else – licenses, accreditations, knowledge, experience, and the ability not only to tell about our beautiful city, but to listen and hear tourists and their desires – is also there.

I love this city because I am not bored with it.
God forbid me to be separated.
I keep this city, and I blame it.
