10th Red Army Street

St. Petersburg, Russia

Description:

The 10th Red Army Street is located in the Admiralty District of St. Petersburg. It runs from Izmailovsky Avenue to Wooden Street. Since the middle of the XVIII century, the street has changed several names. It was 10th Rota Street and then 10th Izmailovskaya Street. Here was the 10th company of the Izmailovsky Life Guards regiment. On October 6, 1923, it was renamed to its modern name in honor of the Red Army, for the final approval of Soviet terminology in opposition to the former name.

Of the most famous sights on the street, it is worth noting the soldiers' barracks of the Life Guards of the Izmailovsky Regiment, which now serves to accommodate office space. There is a hospital building nearby. A little further down the street there is a society to help the poor parish of the Trinity Cathedral of the Life Guards of the Izmailovsky Regiment. In the moving house of the Narva part is now a fire depot.
