2nd Kamennoostrovsky pedestrian bridge

nab. Big Nevka Rivers, 4, St. Petersburg

Description:

The 2nd Kamennoostrovsky bridge passes through Bolshaya Nevka - its embankment is the edge of the sulfur sleeve of the delta of the Neva River. The bridge has been called this since the 1950s. It leaves the main channel five hundred meters from the Liteiny Bridge. It divides the Petrograd and Vyborg sides and flows into the Neva Bay below the arrow of Elagin Island. On the left bank, Bolshaya Nevka flows near such islands as Elagin, Stone, Aptekarsky and Petrogradsky. The length of the river is 7.9 km, and the depth is 8.3 meters, but not everywhere. On the right side, the Black River flows into the Big Nevka, on the left river Karpovka departs, after the Small and Middle Nevka flow. In the 1790s, wooden bridges for pedestrians and small transport mots on Stone Island were built along internal ducts and canals. The beam structure of the 2nd Kamennoostrovsky bridge in five spans was about twenty meters in length. In 1937-1938, the bridge was dismantled to clean the Small Canal, on the site of the old bridge was built another, but also an arched bridge, as expected by the engineer P.V. Andreevsky. The new bridge is based on iron-concrete piles, and the construction of spans - rolling beams.
