4th Volkovsky Bridge

St. Petersburg, Russia

Description:

The 4th Volkovsky Bridge passes through the Volkovsky Canal in St. Petersburg, near the Prospect Glory railway station. In the 1960s, large-scale construction of houses in the Kupchino metro area began, against which there was a need to expand the transport system to other areas of the city and build a bridge for pedestrians. The area between the Prospekt of Glory and Diamond Street along the Volkovka River was identified as a suitable place for the construction of the bridge. The former mound on the arc-shaped section served as new bridges: pedestrian No. 4, Belgrade and Novo-Volkovsky. The single-span reinforced concrete 4th Volkovsky Bridge with a beam-cut structure was built according to the project of engineer Rosenfeld. The name of the bridge comes from the canal through which the bridge passes. The length of the structure is 36.2 meters, and the width is 4.4 m. Flights from prefabricated blocks.
