Grand Gatchina Palace
Krasnoarmeysky Prospekt, 1, Gadchina, Leningrad region
Description:
Gadchin Palace was a special order for Catherine II. Not specifically for her, but for her favorite, Count Orlov. She wanted to give him a gift in the form of a luxurious mansion and turned to the famous architect Antonio Rinaldi. While working on the project, he realized all his bold ideas. It turned out something between the castle and the country estate. Both the exterior and interior appearance of the palace is made in the style of classicism, characteristic of the XVIII-XIX centuries.
To date, more than 50 rooms have been restored in the palace. Each room recreates the interior of the royal times. In addition, there are many thematic exhibitions and exhibitions in the buildings. For a nominal fee, you can enter the palace on any day of the week except Monday.
Museum staff will arrange an entertaining tour and take pictures of you in the royal apartments.
