Saint Petersburg

Church of Saints Peter and Paul

Description:

The Church of Peter and Paul in St. Petersburg is a Lutheran church built by Peter II in 1772. The emperor was famous for his great love for Germany and therefore decided to donate a small part of the land on Nevsky Prospekt. The final construction was completed on the 200th anniversary of the Augsburg Confession.

Initially, the building was made of brick and only a tower of wood. In the building at the same time could be about 1500 people. But the original version of the building did not reach us. Within a century, the building was dilapidated and a competition was announced for a new project. In 1833, a new building was laid, and various motifs began to show off in the architecture of the church.

Now this attraction can be reached from St. Petersburg by bus 311 or by minibus K-827.
