Children's fortress
Russia, Leningrad region, St. Petersburg, Peterhof
Description:
In the XIX century in the palace complex of Peterhof was the Children's fortress. It was a special territory, which housed a variety of buildings that served the imperial children for play and learning. According to the surviving drawings and drawings, it is known that there was a peasant hut, a small farm with a garden, a life-size water mill, a fire tower and the Children's Fortress with an earthen rampart.
Today it was decided to recreate this site on its original place - near the oak grove at the Farmers' Palace. Now there is only a gymnastics ground, but the construction of the fortress has already begun. In the original, she was mobile and traveled with the princes. The fortress was called Battery on the Farm. Around it was dug a real moat and a wide rampart facing the bay. On Valu, a ramp is equipped to accommodate guns. Also interesting are the operating Children's Fire Tower with an observation tower and the Children's Water Mill, built on the bank of a stream southeast of the Farm Palace.
