Until 1910, the Catherine Palace was called the Great Tsarskoselsky Palace. The 300-year history of the palace is rich in names and events. Of the 58 rooms destroyed during the war, only 32 were rebuilt.
Initially, the palace was a small two-storey building, which later expanded and decorated Rastrelli for Elizabeth Petrovna. For the new hostess, Catherine II, Cameron worked over the palace, who created the Arabesque and Lyon living rooms, the Chinese Hall, the Dome Dining Room, the Silver and Blue Cabinets, the Bedroom. Unfortunately, these halls were destroyed during the war and have not yet been restored.
Catherine Park consists of the Old Garden and the English Park. The old garden was planned by Dutch masters of landscape art. It has many ponds, sculptures, pavilions, alleys. The English Park is built with small rugged waterfalls and large ponds on which small boats once sailed. There are also many monuments that glorify the reign of the Empress.
