Fountain of the Tsarskoye Selo Road-1809

Description:

Fountain of Tsarskoye Selo road-1809. J.F. Thomas de Thomon. Located on Kazan Square, 2b in St. Petersburg.

The closest to the city was the fountain, which stood on the territory of the Srednerogatsk colony.

The fountain has a pyramidal shape with a rounded upper part.

There is a hypothesis that the choice of the shape of the fountain was influenced by the "House of the caretaker of springs in the Shaw" by Nikola Ledoux. The fountain is decorated with the mask of Neptune.

The fountain stood in its place until 1935, when it was moved to the square in front of the western facade of the Kazan Cathedral.
