Fountain Ball
ooh Malaya Sadovaya, St. Petersburg, Russia
Description:
The ball is a magnificent fountain clock located on Malaya Sadovaya Street in St. Petersburg. It consists of 12 granite steps with huge bronze numerals and a heavy granite ball. According to the idea of the architects every hour should change the direction of the jets of water, which move from step to step and indicate the numbers. But, unfortunately, the fountain does not fulfill its functional purpose and acts only as a decoration of the city. This is due to some inaccuracies made during construction, as well as frequent breakdowns caused by great interest in it from tourists. The fountain is rather bulky, the weight of its granite ball is about 739 kg. It appeared on the Small Garden in 2000.
This place annually attracts thousands of people who believe in miracles, because according to local tradition, if you make a wish and throw a coin over your left shoulder, turning your back to the fountain - it will come true. It is necessary to stand at the corner of the trapezoid. Which of the steps will fall - so many times it will be necessary to scroll the ball, and after exactly so many months a miracle will happen.
