Fountain near the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God
Primorskoe, 547, St. Petersburg, Russia
Description:
Anyone who visits the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God involuntarily looks at the magnificent fountain decorated with bronze sculpture. It shows a girl in a light dress, lifting a huge fish by the gills, which releases a huge stream of water from its toothy mouth. This wonderful fountain was opened in 1957 and has been pleasing adults and children for more than 50 years. However, now operates only one of its water cannon (originally there were several), as well as lost side bowls located at the base of the pedestal. The author of the sculpture is a wonderful artist Ekaterina Nikolaevna Persian.
She intended to install in the middle of the lower pool the sculpture "Boy ude", thus completing the fountain composition. But, unfortunately, this idea was never realized, and the wonderful bronze sculpture of the girl alone rises near the Primorsky highway. This fountain is one of the unofficial symbols of the city of St. Petersburg and annually attracts many tourists.
