Fountains on Moscow Square

Russia, St. Petersburg, Moscow Square.

Description:

Moscow Square is located at the intersection of Moscow and Leninsky Prospects. Its area is about 13 hectares, and it is one of the largest areas in Europe. The central building of the square is the House of Soviets, the central figure is the monument to Lenin. The rest are houses with squares. But in April 2006, it was decided to increase the number of fountains in the northern capital and just a month later, in May 2006, a huge fountain complex opened on the boring Moscow Square, which immediately turned the square into a favorite place for the population.

The complex consists of eleven fountains, the total volume of which is 3700 m3.

Two “dancing” fountains are located on the sides of the monument to Lenin, there is another one behind the monument, two near the House of Soviets, and six along Moskovsky Prospekt, these fountains are static, but also very beautiful.

All fountains work daily from 11.00 to 23.00. “Dance” they on weekdays at 12.00, 20.00 and 20.40. On weekends and holidays there is another additional inclusion at 16.00. The duration of the “performance” is 20-25 minutes. Musical accompaniment pleases with variety: classical music, popular works of Soviet composers, as well as waltzes, marches, melodies of the 60s.
