Deaf lake
territory of the estate of Prince Potemkin, St. Petersburg
Description:
Deaf Lake is located in the historical part of St. Petersburg. The modern name is associated with the name of a small forest reservoir, which was located on the territory of the country estate of Prince Potemkin. Today, only a small swamp remains here on the left bank of the Neva near the Alexander Nevsky Monastery. The picturesque lake was abandoned in the early 20th century, when this territory behind the Nevskaya outpost was set aside for landfill according to the decree of the City Duma.
