Temple of the Lourdes Mother of God

Kovno Lane, 7, St. Petersburg, Russia

Description:

The Church of Our Lady of Lourdes is a large Roman Catholic church located in the center of St. Petersburg. Beautiful architecture and venerable age attract many tourists to this church.

The Church of Our Lady of Lourdes was built in 1909, and until the nineties of the 20th century it was considered the only Roman Catholic church in the city. The architecture of the temple is an unusual mixture of Romanesque style with modernity. The building makes a monumental impression - its facade is lined with dark granite, and a powerful bell tower rises as much as 30 meters above the streets of St. Petersburg.

The interior of the church is decorated with icons and frescoes, among which you can see an exact copy of the famous “Madonna” by Raphael. In general, this hundred-year-old temple should appeal to all lovers of ancient religious architecture - it is a very gloomy, but in its own way beautiful building.
