John's Gate
Description:
Stone Ioannovsky ravelin with its continuing walls - semi-counterguards was built in 1731-1740 according to the project of military engineer B. H. von Minich on the site of the first wood-earth ravelin of the Peter and Paul Fortress, built on the eastern tip of the Hare Island in 1704-1705. In the thickness of the walls were arranged casemates-barracks, and in the left face – John’s Gate.
