Isaac Square

Isaac Square, St. Petersburg

Description:

St. Isaac’s Square is one of the “business cards” of the Northern capital. In the architectural complex of this attraction there are several majestic buildings, but the central place here is given to the famous St. Isaac’s Cathedral.

The square has the status of administrative, as it is here, in the building of the Mariinsky Palace, the city Legislative Assembly operates. In addition, two famous hotels are located on St. Isaac’s Square – the four-star Angleter and the five-star Astoria, as well as several buildings with a centuries-old history. And the history of the attraction begins more than 300 years ago: during this time, its architectural appearance has changed many times.

You can get to St. Isaac’s Square from the Admiralteyskaya metro station: a walk will take about 15 minutes.
