Kamennoostrovsky Avenue

St. Petersburg, Russia

Description:

Kamennoostrovsky Prospect runs from Trinity Square to the embankment of the Big Nevka River. Since 1712, the prospectus was formed in several stages. First, a road was laid from the Armoury Yard to Trinity Square, called the Big Gun Square. Its section between Bolshoy Prospekt and Small Nevka was popularly called "Road to Stone Island". Later it was extended through the Alexander Park to the then-built Trinity Bridge. This section of the avenue began to be built in the Art Nouveau style in European taste.

In 1918, part of Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt to Malaya Nevka was called Red Zor Street, which was then replaced by Kirovsky after S.M. Kirov, who lived here in the house 26-28. The territory and name behind the avenue were finally fixed only on October 4, 1991.

Of the attractions here at the Alexander Park on the initial section of the avenue is a monument to "Guardian". It depicts part of the hull of the ship and two sailors opening the Kingston. On the back side of the pedestal there is a memorial plaque with a list of destroyer personnel. In the area of houses No. 56-60 in Anikushinsky Square in 2000, a sculptural group "Friendship" was established.
