Stone Mountain Park

ooh Sosnovaya, 23, Ushkovo, St. Petersburg, Russia

Description:

Not far from St. Petersburg, in the south of the Karelian Isthmus, near the Ushkovo station, there is a park called "Stone Mountain". The park has become a real natural monument, thanks to the release of a granite crystalline shield on the earth’s surface.

The park is almost untouched by human hands. There are usually few people here, but some nature lovers come here even during the wedding.

In the park there is a small spring, and next to it there is an Orthodox chapel and a gazebo with a dome instead of a roof. The place stands out for its hills and lowlands. If you come to the Stone Mountain from the side of the plain, the view will be simply amazing - a person will have the feeling that he stands on the verge of a cliff, and below is a completely different land with its dense forests, hills and uneven pine rows.

The spring water is always very cold, but it has its own special taste, this key is also called Stone, and in addition to it, dozens of pure springs strike from the 150 meter slopes of the hills.

The territory of the park is taken under protection to preserve natural landscapes with ancient galleries and quarries. In addition to all the above, rare plants grow here, which include a wild orchid - Venus shoe, listed in the Red Book.

A small village once stood on the site of the park, but in 1938 the whole farm was destroyed by fire.
