Cornish Park
Pos. Ushkovo, St. Petersburg, Russia
Description:
On a high cliff, not far from the shore of the Gulf of Finland, stretched landscape park called "Kornish". The joint-stock company "Kaunis and Toivola" built its mansions on the terrace of the hill.
Along the edge of the Litorin ledge, which is located in the Orlovsky estate, the "Nagorny Boulevard Cornish" has been preserved to this day. It became a walking trail with a length of more than 700 meters. From this road there are beautiful landscapes on the Gulf of Finland and the lower terrace.
Fences, foundations, remnants of decorative concrete gates have also survived to this day. In the west of the ravine that cuts through the Litorine ledge, on a very steep slope stands a retaining wall consisting of large granite blocks. Once it was the basis of the observation deck at the former dacha of Sheremetev A.D.
The remains of the Finnish defensive line "Vammelsuu-Taipale" recall the late period of the history of the Karelian Isthmus. The park has become a real attraction of this area.
