Vasileostrovets Garden in St. Petersburg
st. Petersburg, 25-line VO, 21
Description:
Garden "Vasileostroets" in everyday life is simply called Vasileostrovsky.
Its history began at the end of the nineteenth century, when in 1887 a summer theater was built on the territory of the Smolensk field, around which a garden was planned.
Visiting the garden at that time was free only on weekdays, and on Sundays - paid.
The modern view of the park was formed after the Great Patriotic War: the garden has the shape of a rectangle, a long central alley along which tui are planted. In the middle, the alley is divided by a passage that divides it in half.
In 2010, a monument to the artist and public figure N.K. Roerich was erected at the western entrance to the park.
The park is equipped with several playgrounds.
