Yusupov Garden in the city of St. Petersburg

st. Petersburg, str. Garden, 54

Description:

Yusupov Garden was founded in 1790. This beautiful garden for a long time is one of the favorite places for walks of residents of the city.

This land was donated to Prince G.D. Yusupov at the beginning of the XVIII century by Peter I. Soon there was a garden with flower beds, canals and ponds. The garden was rebuilt along with the prince's estate in the 1790s. On its territory appeared hills, sculptures, gazebos. For some time, the garden was only open to public on certain days. In 1810, when Prince Yusupov separated from his wife, the estate was transferred to the treasury. The garden was taken over by the Institute of Railway Engineers Corps. The garden lost a large part of the area.

In 1863, part of the garden was opened to the public. Here began to walk the locals, held championships in figure skating, Christmas celebrations. In this wonderful place and now like to relax and walk as locals and tourists.
