South Seaside Park in the city of St. Petersburg

st. Petersburg, Peterhof, 27

Description:

South Primorsky Park is located in the Krasnoselsky district of St. Petersburg along the Peterhof highway. It was created in the 1960-70s, and until 1991 it was called the Lenin Park.

The park is divided into two parts. The southern part has a regular layout, its opening was timed to the centenary of the birth of Lenin. In the northern part of the layout is landscape, and since in the 18-19 centuries there was a number of parks, broken at rich estates and dachas (for example, Vorontsov’s cottage, Demidov, Minikha, etc.), a large number of small ponds and roads have been preserved on its territory.

Near the central pond with a picturesque island there is a boat station, and an amusement park and a playground with a fortress of colored stone are built for children.

At the main entrance was previously a twenty-eight-meter stele in the form of a hammer and sickle, now only its horizontal part has been preserved from it, and the inscription on it from the dedication to Lenin was remade into “Sixty Years of Victory 1945-2005”.
