Europe's waterfront
St. Petersburg, embankment between Tuchkov and Birzhev bridges
Description:
The embankment of Europe is a grandiose project of St. Petersburg for the construction of an embankment between Birzhev and Tuchkov bridges.
The project involves the construction of an elite residential complex, including a five-star hotel with views of the arrow of Vasilievsky Island, the Hermitage and the Peter and Paul Fortress. It is also planned to build the Boris Eifman Dance Palace and a shopping and office center. The competition for construction was announced in 2008, the winner was revealed in 2009 - it was a joint project of St. Petersburg architect E. Gerasimov and German-Russian architect S. Choban.
It is worth noting that the project has a great public resonance, as the construction of modern buildings in the historical center of the city caused many objections and questions from St. Petersburgers.
