Ordinary street

St. Petersburg, Russia

Description:

Ordinary street is located in the Petrogradsky district of St. Petersburg. It runs from Big Pushkarskaya Street to the embankment of the Karpovka River. According to one version, the street got its name from the name of the landowner Y. Ordinartsev, who was here. According to another version, the “ordinary” name appeared because the area was no different from the nearby streets and there was nothing special on it.

The street starts from almost symmetrical corner houses No. 60 and 62 on Bolshaya Pushkarskaya Street. Built by architect A.I. Polikarpov in 1904, they serve as a kind of gate to Ordinary Street.

Another notable building in the area is No. 69. This is an apartment house of I.F. Alyushinsky with an elegant corner tower bay window.
