Lantern monument
Description:
The monument to the lamplighter is located on Odessa street. In general, the whole street is known for the fact that it created the first electrical appliances.
The sculpture is made of cast iron. It shows a man sitting on the fence. He's holding a rope with a ladder. The monument stands right where the world’s first street lamp was installed in the 19th century.
The monument itself is very ironic, even somewhat mocking. The fact is that thanks to the great invention of Lodygin, a Russian scientist, the lantern workers of the city, and then the whole country, lost their jobs.
