The satirical writer Mikhail Zoshchenko lived in Sestroretsk from the early 1930s to 1958.
He was buried in the Sestroretsky cemetery.
The monument in Sestroretsk appeared in 2003.
The author of the monument, the sculptor Victor Onezhko put the bronze writer on the bench.
