Monument to Peter I in Petrovsky Park
Petrovsky Park, Kronstadt, Russia
Description:
The monument to Peter the Great in the Petrovsky Park of St. Petersburg is considered the third monument in honor of the emperor himself.
First, military training for soldiers and sailors was conducted at the site of the monument. The creation of the park began in the middle of the XIX century, according to the project of Bellingshausen. After the erection of the monument, the nearby area was populated with trees, with the projector’s own money. The park is made in Dutch style by order of the governor. In 1961, unknown people sawed off the sword from the monument, and it had to be remade. But it did not meet the standards of weapons of Peter’s time.
If you want to look at the monument, you can get to it from the metro to the Admiralteyskaya station, then go to the Small Sea and go to St. Isaac’s Cathedral.
