Description:
Sampsonevsky Bridge in St. Petersburg connects Vyborg and Petrograd districts of the city. The length of the bridge is 212 meters. The bridge is 27 meters wide. The name of the bridge received from the name Sampsonevskaya embankment. Once there was the first floating bridge, created specifically for the Big Nevka. Then they built a wooden one. The bridge was rebuilt several times, until in 1908 a metal and wide bridge was built on which trams could walk. They called it the Bridge of Freedom.
In the fifties again there was a major reconstruction of the bridge, and after that the old and more familiar name returned to the bridge.
From May 2012 to May 27, 2013, Sampsonevsky Bridge was closed to traffic, the bridge is again put in order. The bridge is also famous for the fact that on its left bank is the legendary cruiser Aurora.
