Sculpture "Knight" Death and the Devil

Description:

If you get to Alexander Park, then behind the White Tower you will immediately see a unique sculpture “Knight, Death and the Devil”. Its creation was inspired by an engraving by the German artist Albrecht Dürer of the early 16th century. The composition consists of four figures. One of them is a knight in armor, accompanied by a faithful dog. He is not afraid of anything, he is confidently moving forward. Many scholars say that the knight is a symbol of courage and honor. The second is death on an ugly horse with an hourglass in his hand. This figure reminds of the frailty of human life and the transience of time. Another is a devil with a pig’s snout, symbolizing the vices of humanity, waiting for a knight to make a mistake. The figures are made of bronze. You can get to Alexander Park by buses 14, 46, 49, metro, tram 6, route taxi K30.
