Adjacent bridge
Embankment of the Fonanka River, d.143
Description:
The adjacent bridge is located on the spot where the Kryukov Canal flows into the Fontanka River in the Admiralty District.
The adjacent bridge connects two islands: Spassky and Pokrovsky.
The original wooden bridge existed in 1782-1787. In 1800-1810, the wooden bridge was replaced by a stone, permanent, three-span bridge, under the leadership of Field Marshal M.F. Kamensky.
The length of the bridge is 25.9 m, and the width is 15 m. The bridge also has two other names: Connecting and Hook Bridge. The decor of the bridge is quite simple. In 1964, it became necessary to lay a heating pipe on the bridge, so the bridge was reconstructed again according to the project of engineer E. E. Rosenfeld. This reconstruction led to the overlap of spans of the bridge with metal high beams, which changed its appearance.
