Trinity Bridge
Troitsky Bridge, Kamennoostrovsky Avenue, St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg, 197046
Description:
The Trinity Bridge of the northern capital is considered one of the beautiful buildings. Thanks to him, the Petrograd side and the Field of Mars are connected.
While walking along it, you can see seven other bridges, so tourists are happy to strive for this place.
It is named after the Trinity Cathedral. Other names in different periods of history were the Bridge of Equality and Kirovsky.
The original name returned to the building in 1991. The length of the crossing is 582 meters and a width of 23 meters. Its history dates back to 1897, and it was originally floaty.
The bridge was laid in the presence of the President of France, and he and Alexander III threw a coin into the river. The construction was done by the French company Batignol, which is why it looks so similar to the French bridges across the Seine.
Unfortunately, it was not possible to complete the construction on time, for which the treasury of the Russian Empire was replenished by 150 thousand rubles as a fine. The opening took place in 1903. The bridge is a drawbridge, but only one span of five is bred closer to the left side of the Neva. The first breeding was made by Nicholas II. On the bridge you can see bronze boards with information about the history of the bridge. On the obelisks near the bridge are autocratic symbols: majestic double-headed eagles and a crown. Beautiful lighting in the dark makes it unique.
You can get there by public transport: buses 46 and 49, Metro 2 and 5 pass nearby.
