Triple Bridge: Theatre Bridge + Little Stable Bridge + Dam Bridge
nab. Griboyedova Canal, St. Petersburg
Description:
The Triple Bridge is truly considered one of the original places in the central part of the northern capital.
It is considered a unique result of bridge construction worldwide. At one point, three buildings converge – the Small Stable Bridge, the Theatre Bridge and the dam bridge connecting the two rivers. This hydraulic structure connects three St. Petersburg islands.
The first was the Theatre Bridge. It was named after a wooden theater located nearby on the Champ de Mars.
The little stable has this name due to the emperor’s stables built nearby. Initially, they were all wooden and bred. But in the 19th century, a project of pig iron bridges was developed in connection with the restructuring of the entire area.
The bridge received its modern appearance in 1832. In a new way, fences, lanterns, railings were decorated. Classicism style and plant ornament create a unique design. In 1999, the bridge was reconstructed, paved with hewn stone. All three bridges are pedestrian, they open a wonderful panorama of the Griboyedov Canal, the Moika River and the nearest sights of the city.
You can get by public transport to the stop "Gostiny Dvor".
