Grota Street

St. Petersburg, Russia

Description:

Grota Street is located in the Petrograd district of St. Petersburg. It runs from the Sand Embankment to Professor Popov Street. The street received its name in honor of the writer Konstantin Karlovich Grot, who created the Russian Braille alphabet and organized a network of schools for the blind in Russia. Until 1903, this area of the city belonged to Sand Street. The street got its name thanks to the house No. 6, where the school of Konstantin Grot for the blind was located.

There are six houses on Grota Street. In houses No. 1-3 there is a department of the Organization of Licensing and Permitting Work and Control for Private Detective and Security Activities of the Main Internal Affairs Department of St. Petersburg and the Department of the Petrograd District.
