Rossi Architect Street

Architect Rossi Street in St. Petersburg is unique in that it is the shortest street in the city. There are only five buildings on it. St. Rossi begins from the Alexandrinsky Theater and ends with Lomonosov Square. The uniqueness of the street is also in the fact that the architectural solution and the correct construction led to the illusion that there is only one building on both sides of the street. The width of the building corresponds to its height - 22 meters, and the length is 10 times longer - 220 meters.
The first name of the street was Theatre, as it began with the theater. The street received its name in 1923. In the buildings in the XIX century were located the Ministry of Education, hotels. One of the buildings was occupied by the Museum of Theatre and Musical Art, it is still there.
In 1999, a small reconstruction of the street was carried out, it was paved with gray and red granite, and sloped ramps were made. Rodchego Rossi Street is located in the Central district of the city, the nearest metro is Gostiny Dvor.
