Warsaw Bridge
Admiralty District, City of St. Petersburg
Description:
The Warsaw Bridge connects the left bank of the Neva with the Nameless Island. An urgent need for it arose in the XIX century. The wooden bridge was built just above its current location. But he didn't last long. A few years later, the design was improved, replacing wooden supports with a metal frame and stone piles. Already at the beginning of the XX century, it was expanded due to the huge traffic flow, and tramways were laid. This bridge stood until the 2000s. It was only in 2006 that it was rebuilt. Then a major overhaul was carried out, as a result of which everything was replaced. The bridge was slightly expanded and the rails were removed. Everything about it took more than 140 million rubles.
Why does the bridge have that name? It's very simple. It was named after the Warsaw station, which is a few steps away.
