Vyazem Lane
Description:
Vyazemsky lane is located in the Petrogradsky district of St. Petersburg. It runs between Professor Popov Street and Sand Embankment. This street was previously called Lavaleva, after the name of the “house of Laval”, standing on the corner of the current street of Professor Popov. Later, he changed several more names - Back Lane and Deaf Lane due to the fact that he rested on a dead end in the fence of the Vyazemsky estate.
Today, Vyazemsky Lane has a length of about 500 meters, although its width is only 30 meters. Most of the buildings along the lane are residential buildings. Only at the corner of the alley and the Sand Embankment is the Vyazemsky Garden. This is all that remains of the park of the princes of Vyazemsky. In the house number 8 for some time was the workshop of the sculptor M.K. Anikushin. His name November 30, 1999 was named alley passing from Vyazemsky lane to Anikushinsky square on Kamennoostrovsky Avenue.
