Anchor Square
Russia, St. Petersburg, Kronstadt district
Description:
The anchor square is the central square of the entire Kronstadt district. It is located in the center of this territory, passing the streets of the Soviet and the Obvodny Canal.
It is interesting that until the 90s of the last millennium the square was called “Victims of the Revolution”. It dates back to the 19th century, although some sources say about the 18th.
The square is known throughout the country because of its pavement, which is completely made of cast iron. This is almost one such bridge in the whole country. It occupies about 200 meters, which is equivalent to 15,000 cast iron checkers. It is also interesting that the square was restored in 2013.
