Zhdanov bridge
Description:
Zhdanovsky bridge crosses the river Zhdanovka, connecting the "Petrovsky" stadium from the side of Officer Lane and Zhdanovskaya embankment. Until 1957, the bridge had the name of the 2nd Zhdanovsky, but the 1st Zhdanovsky Bridge was soon dismantled, so the bridge was renamed simply Zhdanovsky.
The bridge was built on this site in 1939 and was a wooden five-span with metal beams. Half a century later, the Zhdanovsky Bridge was rebuilt according to the project of engineers Tolstopyatov and Eduardov, architects Shindin and Dibtsov participated in the construction of the new bridge. The new bridge was made of reinforced concrete and had only two spans. The length of the Zhdanovsky bridge is 60 meters, the width is 33 meters. The name of the bridge comes from the river of the same name and the embankment. The nearest metro stations are Sportivnaya, Chkalovskaya, Vasileostrovsky, Petrogradskaya and Gorky. The picturesque view and connection with the architecture of St. Petersburg was skillfully conveyed by the masters and architects of the Zhdanovsky Bridge.
