Central Research Geological Exploration Museum named after Academician F.N. Chernyshev

The museum provides information on the geological structure, history of geological development and mineral deposits of all regions of Russia and the CIS countries, on the monographically described paleontological collections of leading domestic geologists.

The State Hermitage transferred to the museum for permanent storage a unique mosaic "Map of the USSR of colored stones" with an area of 27 square meters, as well as 11 mosaic coats of arms of the Union republics and the coat of arms of the USSR of colored stones.
